Because of the demands for the construction of teaching staff in the new era, teaching and research need to be personalized and precise. Portraying teachers with various intelligent technologies is becoming an innovative way to solve the problem of precise teaching and research. However, at present, the study on the teachers' portraits from the perspective of precise teaching and research is still a blank in China. This paper illustrates the feasibility of data-driven teachers' portraits in the view of data collection, classification and effective correlation about teaching and research. Meanwhile, this paper analyzes the implementation process of teachers' portraits, including the data preprocessing, the modeling of teachers' portraits, the establishment of teachers' individual label system, and the quality evaluation of teachers' portraits, which provides a clear framework. Finally, this paper proposes four application scenarios for portraits of teachers, covering the perspectives of teachers, decision makers, service providers of teaching and research and students. This study makes a systematic discussion on the necessity, feasibility, methods and application scenarios of teachers' portraits form the perspective of precise teaching and research, aiming to provide reference for the related research.
