With the continuous advancement of information technology in education, video courses, as an important means of online learning and blended learning, have become an indispensable learning resources for learners. Social interaction is considered to be an important factor affecting video course learning. Therefore, it is particularly important to explore the influence of social comparison on learning in video courses based on social interaction in order to optimize the design of video courses. This study analyzes differences in learners' visual attention, academic performance and satisfaction when they interact with peers of different levels through eye-tracking technology. The results show that learners interacting with high-level peers (upward comparison) have significantly longer total fixation time and academic performance than learners interacting with moderate-level peers (parallel comparison) and low-level peers (downward comparison). The above results show that the upward comparison not only facilitate the learners' engagement with the attentional resources of the video courses, but also improve their academic performance. Therefore, in the future, video courses should be designed to create an environment for learners to interact with high-level peers to improve the effectiveness.
