Learning analysis technology is one of research hotspots in recent years. This paper selects an online course on Moodle platform, uses the built-in GISMO statistical analysis module to analyze its learning situation, and examines the results of the learning analysis in terms of the overall curriculum design and individual learners. The study finds that there are some similar phenomena with the existing researches, such as low resource access, much emphasis on text resources while despising video resources, and aiming at completing course activities. Further research finds that those problems are generally caused by the simple repetition of text resources and video ones that are commonly found in instructional design of online courses, and the inappropriate teaching models adopted. It is necessary to establish a correct concept of instructional design, guide the interpretation of the results of learning analysis, and the design of effective online courses as well.
