Contemplating the future development of the discipline of international Chinese education is crucial in the context of the intelligent era. This paper aims to explore the challenges and development issues faced by the discipline in the era of intelligence. By synthesizing existing understandings, a combined top-down and bottom-up approach is used to summarize and extract the fundamental research content of three core fields, namely linguistics, education and educational psychology, and computer science. Additionally, the basic framework of international Chinese education research is constructed, and the structure of the framework and its vital role in the development of the discipline are expounded. Furthermore, the practical value of this framework in areas such as intelligent Chinese teaching model design, teaching practices, and data-driven decision-making is validated. This framework emphasizes the importance of the development of the discipline of international Chinese education in the intelligent era, which is expected to enhance the effectiveness of Chinese instruction, encourage innovation in teaching and research methods and applications, promote the widespread utilization of technology, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the diverse needs of international Chinese education in intelligent era.
